Boxing Day is celebrated as a national holiday in some provinces of Canada on the next day of Christmas, i.e. 26th December 2021’. A country where it is celebrated with huge passion with national holidays in whole of United Kingdom including Scotland where it was declared as holiday & recognised in 1974. Boxing Day is followed as a Bank Holiday in England, Wales & Northern Ireland since 1871, and later in Scotland. It achieved a huge status during the times of the British Empire. Furthermore, this explains itself why it is a holiday and celebrated in many commonwealth countries. However, the exact origin of the day is still debatable due to unknown reasons.

In South Australia, the day is famously known as ‘Proclamation Day’. The day celebrates the proclamation of South Australia as a British Province by the famous Captain John Hindmarsh. It is in memory of the day he arrived at Holdfast Bay on December 28th 1836.

Provinces and regions that observe Boxing Day in Canada are Alberta Province, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. Also, includes Nova Scotia and finally Ontario Province. In the province Ontario, it is celebrated with the highest energy and passion on December 26th. Ironically, as the province is home to the biggest & most prominent cities of Canada, i.e. Toronto and the capital city Ottawa.
