ENVIRONMENT CANADA & HOW WILL 2022 BE A GOOD YEAR FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?

Will 2022 be a good year for the Environment Canada is a question that is raising many eyebrows? Especially, for the people who have attachments with the environment. Furthermore, always keeping themselves updated regards to ongoing activities that relates to environment protection. Whether it’s keeping oneself updated regards to the recent campaigns in Glasgow regarding the COP26 Climate Change Summit. Alternatively, efforts being made in the different Canadian provinces regards to promoting the use of electric vehicles. Hence, also known as EV’s. World leaders especially President Joe Biden and PM Justin Trudeau have last year shared and discussed some useful thoughts regarding climate change. In addition to this, how to be aware in terms of the climate change effects & its on-going regional challenges on the continent North America. What mutual efforts can the two key nations make to overcome these challenges. These are environmental challenges that are growing every day?

It’s indeed a necessary fact that 2021 was a year that was dominated by environmental news. This is indeed despite the on-going COVID-19 constraints on the Canadian economy. The global fossil fuel consumption rebounded after its collapse in year 2020. More importantly, how can one forget the need for immediate action. Regards to previous year climate change disasters all across the vast land Canada? As a result there was record setting heat in British Columbia Province. Hence, apart from fires and floods in different other provinces in Canada.

World leaders from many important countries including U.K., Canada, USA, & Italy met in Glasgow, Scotland for COP 26 Global Climate Change Summit. Furthermore, also promised to meet in 2022 with deeper environment agendas.

The federal Canadian Govt. efforts gradually moved ahead regards to Environment Canada. Especially, in banning selected plastic items while the US/Canadian oil industry showed response by addressing the court for the sake of blocking the bans. However, at the same time the Environmental Defence and partners explained the much needed and dynamic importance of the bans.

In 2021, there were rallies in the Province Ontario while the Ontarian citizens showed protest while sticking to their agendas under the “Ontario: Yours to Protect” program. Under the program the activist protested against many diverse environmental challenges. These were global challenges that were termed as key. Specifically, in shaping the environmental future of Ontario & largely Environment Canada.

Below are some of the predictions for the Environment Canada in 2022:

EV’s PROMOTIONS & USAGE:

The year 2022 which has already started will lay more emphasis on use of Electric vehicles. 2022 will surely mark the introduction of many new EV models with far greater range. On top of the range, much more economical prices than ever. They are more common in British Columbia and Quebec. Hence, apart from these two if you live anywhere else in Canada, than you need luck with the EV. Just like it happens in B.C. and Quebec the Federal Govt. has further promised to address the problems of EV’s. Importantly, by the route of implementing new requirement of car companies. Under this requirement the Govt. wants companies to sell a specific percentage or portion of their total sales as zero emission vehicles. 2022, a year which will make Govt. more aware regards to promoting use of Electric Vehicles.

THE FI’s SHALL BE MORE TRANSPARENT ON CLIMATE RISKS:   

The FI’s or Financial Institutions shall play a more transparent role on the risks associated with environment. After too many years of efforts for the sake of bringing sustainability. Hence, also investments in O&G sector. There shall be some positive change that is expected in 2022.

There are high expectations from the financial institutions to make laws and legislation that are more focused on transparency. In addition to the transparency, more concrete reporting regards to the climate-related risks.

ONTARIO ELECTION WILL BE HIGHLY FOCUSED ON ENVIRONMENT:    

The Govt. of Ontario has high promises that relates to the environmental concerns of Ontario. The provincial Govt. has promised to build more highways and which means less habitat for the endangered species. Furthermore, more carbon emissions. There are predictions and expectations of a strong citizen and media engagement in the lead up to June 2022 election regards to environmental agendas. Also, there are predictions between parties to dominate the debates for the environmental policy differences.

The focus in 2022 elections should be developments in light of the environment. As well as the natural habitat and obviously the endangered species.

MORE CONSUMER AWARENESS REGARDS TO THE TOXIC IN DAILY CONSUMER PRODUCTS:         

The consumers in Canada will be made more aware regards to the amount of toxic present in their daily consumer products. Especially, regards to cosmetics and cleaning products. These are products that are used by millions of people in Canada on an everyday basis. In the year 2022, fresh rules shall be introduced that will require the disclosure of toxic ingredients on the labels of household cleaning products. As well as cosmetics products for both men and women and some furniture.
