Nashville school shooting leaves six dead, incl. three children

According to officials, a former student of The Covenant School. A private Presbyterian elementary school in Nashville. The victim is identified as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, shot and killed three children and three adults on Monday. Police say that Hale, a 28-year-old female shooter, was later killed by the police.

The victims of the shooting have been identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney. All aged nine, as well as Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill, aged 61. The Covenant School, which hosts preschool up to sixth grade, is affiliated with a church in Nashville. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Aaron also confirmed that the shooting had ended by 10:27 a.m. In addition to this, just fourteen minutes after the initial report to police. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

Police have revealed that the suspect had drawn up a detailed map of the school. Including, possible entry points. Furthermore, had conducted surveillance prior to the shooting. They are also reviewing a manifesto and other writings left by the suspect. Unfortunately, at the time of the shooting. There were no police officers present or assigned to the school, as it is church-run.

According to Don Aaron, all three deceased children had gunshot wounds, and the three adults killed were staff members. The Covenant School has around 200 students. Also, 42 staff members. Most of whom were present at the time of the shooting.

The unfortunate shooting of a first-grade teacher in Virginia. Also, a shooting last week in Denver that wounded two school administrators.

President Joe Biden has once again called on Congress to pass his proposed assault weapons ban following the Nashville shooting. Stating, that it is a “heartbreaking” situation and a family’s worst nightmare.

Police have revealed that two of the guns used by the suspect were legally obtained locally. Sadly, all of the victims were pronounced dead upon their arrival at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Additionally, one officer suffered a hand wound from cut glass during the shooting.

In the aftermath of the shooting. The police officers were seen heavily armed. Thus, wearing vests and helmets. Hence, as they patrolled the school’s parking lot and perimeter.
