The Second Wave Is Here!
The second wave of Covid 19 has returned with vengeance.
With numbers skyrocketing daily and numbers reaching figures we first saw at the height of this Pandemic in March/April, the Ontario Government had no choice but to revert to a form of stage 2 lockdown for Toronto, Peel, and a couple of surrounding areas. Restaurants and Bars are now closed. Gyms and indoor hockey rinks along with Cinemas are closed as well. The initial shutdown period is scheduled to last for 30 days after which time the government will decide to continue with the lockdown or open things back up. The province of Quebec has already reverted to stage 2 as their numbers continue to grow.
A reason for the sudden spike in numbers is the number of people being tested daily. Covid centers are at their maximum. Line ups are commonplace with people waiting some two hours to get tested. With more people getting tested, more positive test results are sure to follow. Where most people weren’t being tested when the first wave hit, that is not the case any longer.
At least the number of deaths has not skyrocketed along with the positive test results. The number of positive test results has not led to an increase in hospitalization. The average age of those testing positive is 40 and under and most of those are at an age where they are healthy enough to fight off the effects of the virus from their own homes.
Even the President of the United States can test positive for Covid 19. A number of employees at the White House have tested positive for the virus and President Trump was among those. He was hospitalized for a few days but has since returned to the White House to convalesce there while continuing to run the country.
The National Football League is not immune either. 18 members of the Tennessee Titans have tested positive for the virus along with a sprinkle of other players from other teams that have thrown the schedule for a loop and caused postponements of games to be made up at a later date. The Super Bowl usually scheduled for the first week in February is now in jeopardy of being moved to a later date to accommodate the number of games that have to be rescheduled. With week 5 in the books and another 12 weeks to go before the NFL season is over, I’m sure the number of positive cases will not subside causing more disruptions to the schedule and possibly further delay to the Super Bowl. Will it ever get so bad that they have to cancel the season or the Super Bowl? I think not! With millions of dollars in revenue being paid to the league and the owners by the Television networks, the league will move heaven and earth to make sure the season gets completed.
At this stage, there is no end in sight to this virus. With testing for a vaccine still being done and in its infancy stage, we, the people are in it for the long haul. Get used to the new “norm”!

MBE is highly active in creating social awareness through social media with regards to social distancing measures and how necessary they have been in the current pandemic. Our goal is to act as a catalyst in helping the Government through tough times and enable them to bounce back from problematic scenarios. The Covid-19 crisis is still having huge repercussions on the financial sector causing catastrophic cash flows problems for most companies due to having no business activities from March to June. Sure the Government has tried to help with their CECRA and CERB programs but like everything else in life, these programs have their flaws.
